1 year Texanniversary

I remember the trip vividly. One year and 2 days ago is when I embarked on the drive from San Diego to here, my Escape filled to the brim with our things, 2 boys, 2 cats, 1 dog. I think I was still in a state of shock for my life because I was seriously insane but peaceful. God knew what I needed in order to drive across the country and start our new life. I had begun with the plan of it taking an easy 3 days...but as we passed over into Arizona, I smelled the most horrid smell imaginable. I asked the kids if they had had an accident...nope...I pull over for gas just over the border and low and behold our one cat had gotten so anxious, that she basically exploded all over her carrier...I'll also state that she was a long haired cat. I shut the door and just cried. Like, really? Really? This is how this trip is going to go? NO. I will NOT let this defeat me! We will press on! So I threw the cat carrier away, baby wiped literally the crap out of our cat and decided when we get to the hotel, it'll be a cat bath bonanza. Smell was gone and it was time to hit the road

Fast forward 2 exhausting days later...we pull up to my mom and step-dad's house. It was better than any Christmas morning I had ever experienced and we were HOME. I was so relieved, I could finally exhale for the first time in over a year. We made it, we were all together again, after keeping so much faith that we would be. As sad as we were to be leaving some family behind, we knew we'd stay connected, and we knew this was where we needed to be. My boys had never been so excited to see grandma and grandpa and I finally felt safe and home. It's been a great first year and I'm so excited for the rest of our lives here. I'm also so thankful to have found Joanie Boney, she will be my photographer for my family for as long as she can stand us :)-
